Hong Kong Jockey Club takes two at Arqana August Yearling Sale

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has purchased two eye-catching colts out of the recent 2023 Arqana August Yearling Sale (18-20 August) in Deauville, France for a total outlay of €450,000 (HK$3.867 million).

Lot 42 was the first to fall the Club's way for €310,000. The attractive chestnut is by the British Classic winning Kameko, a two-time Group 1 winner with victories in the 2000 Guineas and Futurity Trophy Stakes. The youngster is out of the mare Roheryn – dam of four individual winners including dual stakes winner Buckaroo, who also boasts two fourths at Group 1 level in France.

Lot 246 was the second buy for the Club at €140,000. The athletic chestnut is by Starspangledbanner – sire of the 10-time winning California Spangle, whose heroics are headlined by a top-level win at the 2022 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile.
