Price-Kent Jnrs Globe thriving

Co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr says impressive galloper Globe (NZ) (Charm Spirit) is well placed to keep his unbeaten record intact at Sandown on Saturday.

A dominant winner at each of his first three starts, Globe lines up in a Benchmark 100 over 1800m with Celine Gaudray retaining the ride.

“We like the horse a lot, not many win three in a row,” said Kent Jnr, who trains in partnership with Mick Price.

“His gallops have been sparkling between runs, he’s just thriving.

“He won’t know himself … he’s 17 hands high, he’s got 51kg on his back.

“I don’t think we’ve found the strongest benchmark 100, we think he’s a really good chance.”

Kent Jnr says Globe will be sent for a spell following Saturday’s run, with one eye already fixed on the lucrative spring.

“This’ll be his last run of the preparation,” he said.

“If we can lift his rating ahead of the Spring Carnival that would be fantastic.

“He’s got the best racing style, he jumps clean, lobs his head on his chest, bowls along at a nice tempo and then finds under pressure.”

A trip to the Price-Kent Jnr team’s stable at Warrnambool has proved invaluable as Globe continues to develop as a racehorse.

“He was mentally really immature, we actually sent him to the ‘Bool for a whole preparation without racing him,” Kent Jnr said.

“It’s been the making of him, he’s bombproof, he’s great.”

Globe, by Charm Spirit, is out of Bonnie Doon who is a full sister to dual Group One winner Booming. He was initially purchased at the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 2 sale from the draft of Cambria Park for $22,000.
