Proisir's My Truth in strong all-the-way win

Three-year-old Proisir gelding My Truth (NZ) broke maiden ranks at Canterbury on Wednesday with a minimum of effort and the smart young galloper is tipped to extend his record as he steps up further in distance.

The Anthony Cummings-trained chestnut had finished fourth at Wyong last month in his first appearance and showed impressive improvement to cruise home over 1580 metres.

“He’s always showed ability, but he’s taken time and is a big, scopey animal, and he’s showed it here which is great,” stable representative Jonathan Crowley said.

“I was a bit surprised by the price ($20) he paid as it wasn’t too bad of a run at Wyong and his trial was good so we were looking forward to today.

“He was up in distance and he will continue to improve as he goes further.”

My Truth was taken straight to the front by rider Josh Parr and, after travelling sweetly at the head of affairs, coasted clear in the run home.

“I was quite impressed how he paraded and how fit he looked so I thought I would take advantage of that on the softer ground,” Parr said.

“We had a nice time of it in front and he showed a really good final 600 metres and when I asked him to extend around the bend away he went.”

My Truth is a sale-topping graduate of the 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale, which was conducted online via Gavelhouse Plus in the Covid-challenged year.

By Proisir out of Pennacchio (NZ) (Align), the now gelding was purchased for $107,500 by Anthony Cummings.

Bred by Greg Tomlinson’s Nearco Stud, whom Cummings also purchased Hong Kong Champion Beauty Generation from (NZ) (Road To Rock), the colt was bred and raised at Gordon Cunningham’s Curraghmore.

The chestnut is a half-brother to Hong Kong Group 3 winner Full Of Beauty (Darci Brahma).
