Last-start winner Kirwan’s Lane (NZ) (Charm Spirit) will have a freshen up before heading to Queensland for the TAB Wave (1800m) at the Gold Coast Turf Club on January 9.

The son of Charm Spirit was second up this campaign when winning over 1600m at Randwick last Saturday.

A suitable barrier and drop back in distance worked the oracle for the John O’Shea-trained four-year-old who put in an impressive display under Brenton Avdulla to win by half a length.

O’Shea will now target the A$250,000 feature race for three and four-year-olds on Aquis Raceday with Kirwan’s Lane who was purchased out of Little Avondale Stud’s 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 draft for $170,000.
