Three-time Group One winner Humidor will take no further part in the Melbourne spring carnival after pulling up with an injury after running third behind Winx in the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The New Zealand-bred and part-owned galloper was found to have swelling in one of his legs on Sunday and his trainer Darren Weir revealed that a scan conducted on Monday found damage to a suspensory ligament.

“Unfortunately, he has got a bit of swelling in a front leg. His spring is over, which is unfortunate for everyone involved because the horse was going great,” Weir said.

“He’ll come back and he’ll be fine for the future.”

The six-year-old had a strong spring campaign, winning the Gr.1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) in September before going on to be placed at Group One-level three times.
