Caulfield trainer Mick Price has elected to bypass the Gr.1 VRC Oaks (2500m) in favour of the Gr.1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday-week with three-year-old filly Seabrook.

It will be three weeks between runs for the New Zealand-bred filly who finished third in the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas (1600m), and her trainer thinks that will be a huge aid for his runner.

“I think she also goes better with a bit of time between runs, she’s that sort of filly,” Price said. “I think she went super in the Thousand Guineas, I’m not saying she would have won, but certainly she should have run second.

“Seabrook worked super at Caulfield on Tuesday morning and she will run in the Myer with Dean Yendall to ride, who has won the last two.

“I thought the Myer would be safer for her and three-year-old fillies have won the last two Myer Classics, so crossed fingers on that one.”
