Racing NSW stewards' reported on Monday that trainer Lee Curtis has advised them that Lasqueti Spirit has been spelled and is out of further racing over the spring.

The four-year-old Beneteau mare, the winner of the 2016 Group 1 Victoria Oaks over 2500m at Flemington last November, finished last, 14L from Winx, in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes over 1600m at Randwick last Saturday.

“She’s not the same horse I was riding last prep. She obviously hasn’t come up,” said jockey Jay Ford after the race.

Lasqueti Spirit, out of the General Nediym mare Supriym Story, has not won since her Oaks victory, but she Group 1 placed twice over the summer and autumn. She was second to Winx in the Chipping Norton Stakes over 1600m in February and third in the ATC Oaks over 2400m at Randwick in April.

She spells with the win, two seconds and four third with stakes of $889,370.
