A victory at Benalla in country Victoria has brought up another milestone for Group One-winning jockey Linda Meech.

Meech guided the Peter Morgan-trained Prating home in the third race on today's programme to bring up her 100th win for the season. It is the fifth time Meech has reached triple figures in a season and she is the seventh jockey to reach the mark so far in 2016/17.Linda Meech - Bruno Cannatelli

West Australian William Pike leads the national premiership with 149 wins, five ahead of Brisbane's premier rider Jeff Lloyd.

All Meech's wins this season have been in Victoria, where Dean Yendall leads the statewide premiership on 112.

Meech, who began her career in New Zealand, long had the support of the Peter Moody stable until he closed his business last year, but she has continued to churn out the winners.

"It's nice to get the 100 up," Meech told Racing.com. "Especially without Moods, it's really good.

"I'd love to say I had no worries at all in the world that I'd keep going well without him, but it's always in the back of your mind."

Meech's biggest win this season has been the Gr. 2 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes at Flemington on Sircconi who is trained by Peter Morgan, also trainer of Prating.

She had previously reached a century of winners in 2008-09 (111), 2009-10 (109), 2011-12 (108) and 2013-14 (105).

Tomorrow Meech rides the talented Zebulon for the Morgan stable in the Listed Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield and popular mare Miss Vista, who is favourite for the LU Simon Builders Handicap.
