Dual Group winning-stayer Chocante has gone for a lengthy injury-forced break.

Chocante - Grant Peters

“He bowed a tendon in Brisbane, unfortunately, and he’s back here now spelling,” trainer Stephen Marsh said.

The injury came to light after Chocante had been unplaced in the Listed Tails Stakes (1600m) at Doomben last month when resuming.

“It leaves a hole losing two of your top-rated horses – Thee Auld Floozie has retired and now Chocante has gone amiss.”

Chocante has a Gr.3 Counties Cup (2100m) to his credit and last season claimed top honours in the Gr.2 Brisbane Cup (2200m).

The son of Shocking has also placed twice at Group One level in the Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) and in The Metropolitan (2400m).
