Savacool, one of the leading contenders for next weekend's Schweppes Oaks in Adelaide, might be further improved when she tackles the Group One after trialling impressively in blinkers at Flemington on Friday.

The daughter of Savabeel created a big impression for trainer Chris Waller on her Victorian debut when a runaway winner over 1600 metres at Caulfield two weeks ago and the filly again pleased her stable when she jumped out for jockey Damien Oliver with the shades on the first time on Friday.

"She was fitted with blinkers today for the jump out and he (Oliver) said she responded really well once he asked her to quicken," stable foreman Jo Taylor said.

"He's certainly pleased with where she's at just a week out from the Oaks."

Savacool has attracted a lot of attention as a Schweppes Oaks hopeful as she is following a similar path to last year's winner Egg Tart, who the Sydney-based Waller took to Adelaide via the Flemington stable.

Taylor said Savacool had done the majority of her work to be ready for the 2000-metre Oaks trip next Saturday so was not asked for too much on Friday.

"We just wanted her to settle nicely in a comfortable position and then we asked Ollie to get her to quicken up nicely and remind her to keep her mind on the job," Taylor said.

"She then just went to the line quite comfortably without doing too much. She's a nice fit horse and she didn't need a hard hit out today."

Taylor said she had been taken with how well Savacool is adapting to new environments.

"She's certainly showed maturity when she travelled down here and settled into the routine very well - just taking things in her stride - so I can't foresee any troubles with her travelling (to Adelaide)."

As for the comparisons between Savacool and Egg Tart, Taylor said she could see why some people are keen to line up the pair.

"They are very similar types of fillies," she said.

"They both showed nice professionalism up to this point of their careers. We definitely expect a good performance (in the Oaks) and hopefully she can get the job done the same as the big girl (Egg Tart)."
