The winner of five hurdle races was successful in a 2600m steeplechase trial for trainer Rudy Liefting, who has yet to confirm the next port of call for the gelding. He was fourth three runs back in the McGregor Grant, his first steeplechase outing.

The other heat 2600m at Ellerslie was won by the Craig Thornton-trained Zamora, who runs in the maiden steeplechase at the Pakuranga Hunt Club meeting on August 26, and the 4900m heat was claimed by Neil O’Dowd’s Nells Belle.

She now heads to The Tractor Centre Pakuranga Hunt Cup, a race she finished fourth in last year.
