Tony Be Australia bound

Promising three-year-old Tony Be (More Than Ready) will continue his racing career in Australia.

The son of More Than Ready won two of his 10 races in New Zealand for former trainer Steven Cole, and put in solid performances when running fifth in the Gr.3 Manawatu Classic (2000m) and Gr.2 Championship Stakes (2100m) in his last two starts.

“He showed plenty of ability and in all fairness I think he probably should have won one of those races,” Cole said.

“He is heading over to Australia after he has a spell. The new owners are currently discussing which trainer they want to send him to.”

While he is sad to see the promising youngster leave his barn, Cole is looking forward to the imminent return of exciting juvenile Magneto (NZ) (Showcasing).

The Showcasing colt placed in the Listed Wellesley Stakes (1000m) at Trentham in January before winning the Gr.3 Woburn Farm 2YO Classic (1200m) at New Plymouth a month later.

“It was a very good season, the Taranaki win was quite exciting,” Cole said. “He did it pretty well down there that day. He had quite a big season and was consistent right throughout.

“Magneto is due back into the stable in a couple of weeks. He has just been spelling down at Prima Park at the moment and they said he has done really well.

“It will be exciting to get him into the stable.”
