The Jamie Richards-trained runner will head for a light freshen-up before lining up in the Gr.2 Wellington Guineas (1400m) at Trentham next month.

“He might have a little freshen-up now and if we are pleased with him he could well be aimed at the Wellington Guineas on the way back to Te Akau,” he said.

Weaponry had a three start southern campaign that included a placing in the Listed Gore Guineas (1335m) before running fourth in the Listed Dunedin Guineas (1500m) before his win in the Southland Guineas.

Richards was pleased with the southern campaign and said the three-year-old gelding has thrived with the trip south.

“He is an improving horse and I think the trip has really brought him on,” Richards said.

“I think the travel has helped the horse and he has really grown up and improved.”
