Group One winner Embellish is on target to have a further trial this month as is stablemate Chance To Dance.

Winner of last year’s Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m), Embellish hasn’t raced since a two-start Melbourne autumn campaign which ended with his eighth in the Gr.1 Australian Guineas (1600m) behind Grunt.

The son of Savabeel was unplaced in a 935m trial at Cambridge last Tuesday and is likely to compete at the Waipa trials on October 18.

“He’d been off for a long time and needed that trial last week,” trainer Jamie Richards said.

“He’s also had his issues so we’ll get a better line on him at the Waipa trials.”

Chance To Dance, winner of the Listed Karaka Classic (1600m) and the Gr.3 OMF Stakes (2000m) last year, has also had one trial since he was unplaced in the Gr.3 Trentham Stakes (2100m) last January.

He finished third in an open 900m heat at the Te Rapa trials on August 21.

“He was almost ready to go but returned an ordinary blood (test) so we backed off him a bit,” Richards said. “He’ll trial at the end of the month.”

Paulownia, runner-up to Scott Base in last March’s Gr.2 Wellington Guineas (1400m), is also likely to trial later this month.

“She’s coming to hand nicely and we’ll make plans for her after the trial,” Richards said.
