Hastings trainers Guy Lowry and Grant Cullen have a team of five entered for Thursday’s Wanganui meeting, including a pair of promising three-year-old fillies.

Allacciato made a favourable impression when closing strongly for seventh on debut in the Listed El Roca - Sir Colin Meads Trophy (1200m) at Hastings, while Shez Ekstra also made good ground at stakes level when fifth in the Listed The O'learys Fillies Stakes (1200m).

The pair step back to maiden company on Thursday, with Allacciato to step out over 1350m, while Shez Ekstra will race over 1600m.

“Allacciato is quite a light sort of filly but she's eating well,” Lowry said.

“I'd say she's a long way from being a mature three-year-old filly. She'll go out for a spell probably after that and then we'll have her racing on New Year’s Day at Hastings with the intention of having a tilt at the Oaks.

“She gets over the ground well, and I think she'll stay. She's Extra's the same, she is also exciting, and she'll go out for a spell as well after Thursday.

“They've done well, and there’s not a lot of three-year-old racing over ground between now and Christmas.”
