Iain Marks will be taking an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach with his in-form five-year-old No Loitering.

The Matamata trainer has enjoyed his visits to Te Rapa with the chestnut, who won for the second time on the Hamilton course last time out.

That success continued a profitable preparation for No Loitering, who has collected two victories and three placings from his last six starts.

“It was another nice win last Saturday and his only blemish was his Rotorua run and it was a super heavy track that day,” Marks said.

“He likes Te Rapa a lot and there’s some more nice races coming up there so we’ll be sticking to where he’s going well. Darren (Danis) has been riding him well, they’re a nice combination.”

Marks is hoping No Loitering’s recent performances can rub off on Seconds Out, who runs in The Meat Co, Robow’s, Two Tones Handicap (1600m) at Matamata on Wednesday.

Seconds Out, also to be ridden by Danis, has been unplaced in both of his runs this preparation.

“I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t go a good race,” Marks said. “He’s been working well and he’s got a good draw.

“He’s still got the goods. He’s an eight-year-old, but you wouldn’t think so He’s still light as a feather on his feet and he’s very well at the moment.”

Unlike his stablemate No Loitering, Seconds Out failed to handle the Te Rapa track at his most recent appearance.

“It didn’t suit him and he likes Matamata,” Marks said.

Seconds Out has a win and three placings to his credit on the track.
