Guy Lowry was quick to deflect any praise for his part in Eastern Warrior’s successful North Island debut.
The Hastings horseman, who trains with Grant Cullen, produced the filly to win Thursday’s New Zealand Bloodstock Insurance Pearl Series Race (800m) on her new home track.
“Peter Rudkin did a fantastic job with her,” Lowry said. “She arrived 10 days ago so we haven’t done a lot with her.”
Eastern Warrior was previously trained by part-owner Rudkin and finished fourth behind the top youngster Avantage at Riccarton in October in her only start. She has come north for increased racing opportunities.
