Buyers have hit a brick wall in their pursuit of Detentore.

They have been circling around the unbeaten three-year-old, but trainer Fraser Auret said the owners of the Keeper gelding had knocked back all offers.

“There’s been a lot of interest in him, but the guys that race him have all got their own businesses and they’re not interested.”

Detentore was a trial winner before he was put aside after delivering at the first time of asking at Waipukurau in March.

He successfully resumed in Rating 65 company on the same course in May and was again spelled after defeating his Rating 75 opposition at Awapuni a fortnight later.

“He’s a talented horse and obviously hasn’t put a foot wrong,” Auret said. “I couldn’t be happier with him.

“He’ll surface at the trials at Foxton on August 1 and he’ll probably kick off at Waverley on the 18th, all going well, and then we’ll make a plan from there. I don’t think he’ll have any problem getting up to 2000m this time around.”

Auret is also keen to test the stamina reserves of stablemate Porcelain Princess, who has won five of her 11 starts up to 2100m.

“She’s looking great and I think she can develop into a cup horse,” he said.

“I want to try her over more ground, even two miles. Her half-brother Alinko Prince gets that distance quite comfortably and being by Sir Percy she’s probably bred to go further than him.”

Alamosa’s son Alinko Prince placed in both the Gr.1 Auckland Cup (3200m) and the Gr.3 Wellington Cup (3200m) during his last preparation.
