Trainer Peter Lock is looking forward to stable star Hiflyer stepping out in Saturday’s Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill, while stablemates Mr Luigi and Dougie also have metropolitan assignments in the coming weeks.

Hiflyer - Trish Dunell

“Mr Luigi and Dougie worked on the treadmill this morning and Hiflyer did a couple of nice rounds of the track and he pulled up really well and looks nice and bright.

The Group One-placed son of Tavistock has drawn the inside gate and will carry top-weight of 59.5kgs under regular rider Jonathan Parkes.

“Johnathan arrives on Friday afternoon and he knows the horse better than anyone and we will work out what happens in terms of rider after Saturday.

“There is another Listed race worth A$150,000 over 1500m at Rosehill in a fortnight, and that looks a possible target.

Lock said Mr Luigi and Dougie would run on Saturday week at Randwick in A$100,000 benchmark races.

“We’re not too sure how long we are going to stay, it depends how the horses are going and we will get a guide with Hiflyer on Saturday.”
