Tutta La Classe deserved to go out a short-priced favourite at Trentham on Saturday and she had no trouble repaying the market’s faith in her.

The Allan Sharrock-trained youngster was at less than even money and her army of supporters had no worries as she strolled to victory in the Rat Tat Plate (1000m).

Tutta La Classe had finished runner-up in both of her previous starts and had also showed her wet track ability with a second on her home track last month.

“It was only the four and a-half kilo claim on the other horse that beat her,” rider Lisa Allpress said.

She was referring to apprentice Wiremu Pinn, who successfully combined with stablemate London Express at New Plymouth.

That form was subsequently enhanced when London Express won the Listed Castletown Stakes (1200m) at her following appearance.

Allpress continued her association with Tutta La Classe at Trentham and she had no concerns during the race, but did have one beforehand.

“The jumps were inside the running rail and the horse shied at them on the way down so I requested they be moved – I thought I might be on the inside,” she said.

So it proved after Tutta La Classe jumped well to lead and after surging clear 200m from home she was untroubled to score by three-quarters of a length.

Chasing Return gave a strong account of himself on debut by finishing second and Miss Nibbles, anther debutante, was third.

“He’s a really good sort of horse, big and strong. He’s smart,” said the runner-up’s co-trainer Johno Benner.
