Prom Queen has done well since her last-start effort for second, but co-trainer Kenny Rae has weight concerns for the filly at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

“She’s come through the run as good as gold, but I’m disappointed with the big weight (60kg) so I’ll claim,” he said.

Prom Queen’s impost will be reduced to 57kg by apprentice by Boris Thornton in the UBET QTIS Handicap (1000m).

Stablemate Patsy’s Lass runs in the Broken Ridge Tavern The Phoenix 2YO (1600m) and was also a last-start runner-up, with Rae believing she could be a future classic contender.

“She hasn’t left an inch of feed,” he said. “She might be at Riccarton for the 1000 Guineas, she’s got three-year-old written all over her.

Rae will also be represented by Kaharau in the Gr.2 P. J. O’Shea Stakes (2200m) and he showed improvement at his most recent outing.

“He ran a creditable fifth on the Gold Coast the other day,” he said. “He’s a grand old campaigner and he’s very genuine.”
