The racing days of the multiple southern stakes winner Coulee are over.

The Gallant Guru mare was retired after she was unplaced when attempting to claim three consecutive Gr.3 South Island Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) titles.

“She has been a great mare and has nothing left to prove,” said co-trainer Brian Anderton, who bred Coulee with his wife Lorraine and they share in the ownership.

“We could have kept her going, but with the easing of the ground there is not much point really.”

Coulee, whose 10 wins also feature the Gr.3 White Robe Lodge Handicap (1600m), is likely to be mated with White Robe Lodge resident Ghibellines in the spring, according to Anderton.
