Taranaki conditioner Allan Sharrock is licking his lips as he counts down the days until stable star Kawi’s next appearance.

Sharrock has his eyes on the Gr.1 BCD Group Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa next Saturday, where he believes Kawi can turn the tables on the rivals he faced in the Gr.1 Telegraph (1200m) at his last start.

The six-time Group One winner put on an unbelievable display at Trentham to sizzle home for second against the pattern of the day, while carrying topweight of 59kgs.

“They are in our wheelhouse now and the way he has come through Trentham I think they are all in big trouble,” he said.

“They all have to step up to weight-for-age this time, which will see most of them on level weights with us.

“They also have to go an extra 200m which also plays well in our favour.

“He was huge at Trentham and I’m expecting the same or better this time as well.”
