There was definitely no indecision with the way Indecision won the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Bonus race at Avondale recently.

The four-year-old daughter of Per Incanto streaked away to a four length win in the rating 65 1200 metre event, franking the form that had seen her run second in Pearl Series races at Matamata and Rotorua over the past month.

According to part-owner Cherry Taylor, the decrease in distance made all the difference.

“It’s fantastic to win a Pearl Bonus it’s a big boost,” Taylor said, “after she had run second twice over 1400, we were getting a little frustrated.

“We had a chat with Tony (Pike) and wondered if she just couldn’t quite get to 1400, so we were obviously confident racing over 1200 when this race came up.”

In the small field of fillies and mares Indecision was the only one nominated for a bonus and picked up an extra $10,000 for her owners, $1,000 for her trainer and $500 for her nominator Trelawney Thoroughbreds Limited.

Cambridge trainer Tony Pike certainly knows how to set a horse for a Pearl Series win and as a trainer has trained the most bonus winners, followed closely by South Island trainers Michael and Mathew Pitman.

Indecision a half-sister to the dual group one winner Viadana, has now won two races, both of them Pearl Series races and both them at Avondale. She is raced by Faith, Cherry, and Brent Taylor along with Brett’s sister Jane and her husband Scott Malcom and was purchased for her broodmare potential.

She was bred by Little Avondale Stud and Nicole Smyth out of the Kinjite mare Yeah Nah and was presented for sale at the 2015 NZB National Yearling Sale by Little Avondale Stud where she sold through the Premier Session for $260,000
