Martyn Meade believes the course at Sandown will be ideal for the New Zealand-owned Eminent in next month’s Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes.

The Frankel colt, who is raced by Sir Peter Vela, showed he was progressing well toward the July 8 feature with a smart midweek gallop over 1400m at Newmarket.

“He worked very well and he's on course to go to Sandown. That's the plan,” Meade said.

Eminent performed with credit when sixth in the Gr.1 2000 Guineas then fourth in the Gr.1 English Derby after creating a good impression when winning the Gr.3 Craven Stakes
