Racing enthusiasts are enraged with premier racing channel - Trackside, not broadcasting the first five races from Singapore last night.

Trackside has exclusive rights to telecast Singapore meetings regularly on Friday and Sunday, but incensed racing fans for not broadcasting the entire Public Holiday Monday meeting.

Considering the large amount of interest from leading racing individuals, the fiasco is another example of dissatisfaction within the industry, towards the NZ Racing Board.

Three of the first five winners had New Zealand connections.

Haunui Farm bred gelding Be Bee won on debut in the maiden event in the second race of the card, Graeme Rogerson’s part-owned Unconquered won the following event for ex-pat kiwi trainer Laurie Laxon.

Go Racing’s Holy Grail broke maiden ranks in the fourth race for another ex-pat, trainer Bruce Marsh.

The situation is a total disgrace, and another screw-up by the New Zealand Racing Board’s governance, there is no excuse.

Trackside have two channels and the feed from Singapore is cheap to broadcast.

Turnover was smaller than usual for the first five races, but thats expected from non-televised races.

The Friday Flash attempted to speak to New Zealand Racing Board CEO John Allen.

We will not be commenting on this occasion,” New Zealand Racing Board Media Manager Kate Gourdie said.
