New Plymouth trainer Allan Sharrock has got his last three seasons off to Group One-winning starts and he's determined to continue his stable's hot Hawke's Bay carnival form.

"I would love to win four Makfis in a row," the New Plymouth trainer said.

Sharrock saddled I Do to claim top honours in the Gr.1 Makfi Challenge Stakes in 2014 and Kawi has triumphed in the last two editions and he is making good progress toward the defence of his Hastings crown, to be raced this year as the Tarzino Trophy.

"He's done two weeks under saddle and three weeks on the water walker," Sharrock said.

The best-performed son of the champion stallion Savabeel, Kawi also has wins in the Zabeel Classic, Thorndon Mile, Windsor Park Plate and in the Haunui Farm WFA Classic at the elite level.
