Two Australian-bred youngsters will debut at Te Rapa on Saturday after both impressed winning their trials at Taupo on 23rd May.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman trained, Karisto won his 1050m trial by four and half lengths, in a time 1:03.31.

Bred by Woodside Park Stud, Karisto, by Written Tycoon was purchased by the powerful China Horse Club along with Horse Ventures at the Magic Million Sales for $180,000.

The colt then went through the NZB Ready To Run 2yo Sale and purchased by Bruce Perry for $220,000, and will be raced by China Horse Club Racing Pty Ltd, JML Bloodstock Ltd (Mgr L Petagna), SF Bloodstock LLC Ltd, Horse Ventures Pty Ltd, Rhoda Phillippo & Grant Devonport.

Another trial winner that day was the Tony Pike trained Sacred Rebel.
 

The son of Sepoy won his 850m trial, in a time of 51.41.

"He won his trial nicely and he's a really good type," trainer Tony Pike said.

"He's still a bit new, but on raw ability he should go close."
