The John Wheeler-trained stayer is likely to use Saturday week's Gr.2 Chairman's Handicap as a lead in to the $A2 million Sydney Cup at Randwick a week later.

A winner over 3200 metres and a commendable ninth in the Gr.1 Melbourne Cup in the spring, Pentathlon finished a last-start eighth in the Gr.1 Auckland Cup after being forced to race three wide.
