Rising Red earned a trip back to New Zealand for the Derby with a win over older horses at Sandown last Wednesday.

Local betting agencies have the son of Redwood as a $14 chance in latest New Zealand Derby markets.

"He won nicely last time, beating tough older horses and doing it well," Trent Busuttin, who trains Rising Red in partnership with Natalie Young, told The Informant.

"He raced very professionally, which was good to see. He'll be on a plane over on Wednesday. He deserves to have a crack at it."
