Eye-catching Australian debut for My Gold Bracelet

Kiwi mare My Gold Bracelet (NZ) (Pins) made a good start to her Australian career when finishing a close-up third in the Allan & Helen Angus Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday behind So You Swing (So You Think).

Originally trained by Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard, My Gold Bracelet won the Gr.2 Wellington Guineas (1400m) in March.

Now in the care of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, the four-year-old daughter of Pins is expected to get over further this campaign after being strong through the line and will race in mares’ grade.

“She went super on Saturday,” Price said. “She’s a mile horse and I think a race like the Stocks Stakes (Gr.2, 1600m) on September 25 at Moonee Valley would be a suitable race for her.

“She went really well. A softer track would be of benefit for her and I can’t wait to see her over a mile.”

The Gr.2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on September 12 is a likely stepping stone for the mare that is part-owned by New Zealander Jen Campin, who sold equity in the filly to Australian syndicator Roll The Dice Racing.

“She is a mare from New Zealand and I don’t think she appreciates the absolute Good3 tracks that we dish up sometimes over here.

“She will probably be trained out of Warrnambool for a while, which will benefit her greatly.

“A mile, with a bit of give in the ground, which Moonee Valley can be, and she will be right up there with the Group Two mares in this country.”

Other races in the reckoning for My Gold Bracelet include the Gr.3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m) at Caulfield on October 14 and the Gr.1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on October 31 before potentially stretching to 2000m in the Gr.2 Matriarch Stakes.

My Gold Bracelet is another success story from the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale, with the chestnut filly secured by Campin for just $25,000 from the draft of Ohukia Lodge.
