Multiple Group One winner Humidor has a great association with the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m).

The New Zealand-bred and part-owned galloper finished runner-up to Winx in 2017 before securing third in last year’s edition and he will attempt to better those marks in this year’s running.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained gelding was on the sidelines through injury after last year’s Cox Plate, but returned earlier this spring and has pleased his connections with his progress.

The son of Teofilo finished tenth in his first three assignments this term before putting in a good showing in Saturday’s Gr.1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) to finish fifth. “He’s improved every run, we’re quite happy with him,” Maher said. “He was probably a bit unlucky not to run a place, so onto the Cox Plate now.”
