The Chris Waller trained Group 1 Golden Rose winning Redoute's Choice colt The Autumn Sun maintained his grip on Caulfield Guineas favouritism after drawing ideally in barrier five for Saturday’s Group 1 over 1600m.

“There are just three runners in single figures for the three year-old feature and jockey James McDonald was delighted with the way his mount handled the unique track on Tuesday morning,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.

The Autumn Sun, who is $2 to win the race, was the best backed runner in TAB’s pre post betting, with 37 per cent of the single bets.

The biggest potential collect on the race, however, is for the punter who placed $3,000 at $26 on The August to win, for a potential collect of $78,000.

Elsewhere, Smart Melody remains the $3.20 favourite to win the Thousand Guineas.
