Trainer Mick Price has welcomed back Gr.1 Australian Guineas (1600m) winner Grunt into his Caulfield barn.

Grunt - Bruno Cannatelli

"I originally thought he was an ATC Derby horse but I thought that the Australian Guineas was a race that would rate him a better stud prospect given that Zabeel and a few nice horses have won that race,” Price said.

The rising four-year-old O’Reilly colt will have plenty of options in the spring, but Price has highlighted the Gr.1 Cox Plate (2040m) as a potential target for Grunt.

"He'll be entered for everything, but I think the Cox Plate might be the race,” he said.

“Horses like Savabeel won that race and went on to be a good stallion but he'll have any number of options in the spring."
