Promising gelding Badajoz delivered a win for Darren Beadman on his last Saturday as interim trainer for the Godolphin with an impressive performance at the Sunshine Coast today.

Despite sitting deep for the race, Badajoz was too strong, winning by a length and a half from Invincible Express with a long head to Misery in the card-opening 1000-metre handicap.

Beadman took over as interim trainer for Godolphin in May, when John O'Shea resigned, and will hand the reins to James Cummings next Saturday.

It was Beadman's 35th winner since taking over, with the Gr. 1 Stradbroke Handicap the highlight.

"This is my Iast Saturday as interim trainer and I have really enjoyed the experience," Beadman said. "We have had a good winter thanks to the hard work of the staff looking after the team up here."

Badajoz is likely to head to Grafton next week for the Ramornie Handicap or Kirby Sprint.

"He had been unlucky his past two in Sydney and they were good runs. He had a bit on them today," Beadman said. "I wasn't worried when he was deep as he was in his rhythm."

Damian Browne started his day in style with the win on Badajoz.

"He may have been deep, but he was travelling and that was the way he obviously likes to race," Browne said.
