Jockey Dean Holland has been suspended for three weeks over his handling of Barge And Charge in a 3000-metre race at Moonee Valley last month.

Holland was outed for not taking all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure Barge And Charge was given full opportunity to win or to obtain the best possible placing in the race on February 3.

Barge And Charge was engaged in a speed battle with Valediction, ridden by Katelyn Mallyon, and both horses weakened out of the race to be beaten 33 lengths and 53 lengths respectively.

Holland pleaded guilty to the charge at a Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board hearing yesterday, with his suspension to begin after tomorrow.

Mallyon has also been charged under the same rule for her ride on Valediction, but the RAD Board yesterday accepted an application by her counsel for an adjournment to a date to be fixed.
