A half-brother to Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback has fetched a record A$1.4 million for a yearling sold at the Inglis Premier Yearling sale in Melbourne.

The colt by I Am Invincible out of Soorena was knocked down to Caulfield trainer Ciaron Maher yesterday, the first yearling to be sold for more than A$1 million in Victoria.

Rick Jamieson's Gilgai Farm, which offered the colt for sale, also bred Jameka who Maher trained to win last year's Caulfield Cup
